The Trinidad Moruga Scorpion plants have taken the brunt of these recent storms, but they are standing up fairly well. A few branches were broken by heavy winds, so the green peppers came inside and became part of that night’s chili.
The Trinidad Moruga Scorpion is recognized as the Hottest Pepper in the World by the Chile Pepper Institute of the New Mexico University. Although Guinness currently gives that title to the Carolina Reaper, because that pepper is a hybrid the Trinadad Moruga Scorpion certain has the title of the hottest naturally occurring pepper in the world.
Even the green / unripe pods are extremely hot. This is an image of an unripe pod that survived the storms intact.
A few of the peppers are turning orange, so it should not be long before these are again available.
