Reaper of Sorrow in Review

Reaper of Sorrow is the latest hot sauces to be crafted with the Carolina Reaper pepper.

“Thou shall be warned!!! Like a raging cauldron of molten fury, this sriracha style sauce is fueled by the demonic heat of the Carolina Reaper, the hottest pepper on Earth! The Reaper of Sorrow awaits…It’s not just a hot sauce. It’s a way of life!” – From the Bottle

I don’t know about all that, but I did very much enjoy this sauce.  This is a thick, sriracha style hot sauce, is much hotter than commercial grocery store hot sauces.  But even off the spoon it is not over the top hot.

If you have had the Carolina Reaper in the past, you will note its fairly distinct taste in this sauce.  There is a clear fruity flavor, but it is very subtle.  The same is true of the woodsy smokey flavor the Carolina Reaper is known for.  What really comes out is the Cayenne flavor kin to traditional hot sauces.

If you like a classic hot sauce only thicker and with a kicked up heat level, you will love this sauce.  If you are not a fan of the classics, it is still a great one to try for its inclusion of the flavors unique to the Carolina Reaper.
