The Hottest Pepper in the World
In 2013, Guinness World records certified the Carolina Reaper as the hottest pepper in the world. This displaced the previous champion: The Trinidad Scorpion Butch T strain. Tests submitted by Ed Currie, reported creator, reportedly averaged 1,569,300 SHU. Some specimines reached as high as 2,200,000 SHU. Since that time there has been much speculation that the Carolina Reaper is a rebranded 7 Pot Primo pepper.
