It has been years since we first spotted a single chocolate Carolina Reaper plant growing in a patch of the more typical red Carolina Reaper patch. Because the original seed stock came from a reliable source, we figured it was a natural variation. Maybe recessive genes meeting up some how. Since then we have been growing two generations a season, selecting the most true to form to save for the following year. During the season of 2016, the appearance and stability of this version of the Chocolate Carolina Reaper were excellent.
